What the retail & e-commerce sector sends us most often
A retailer based here sells to three audiences at once: residents of whom nearly one in two holds a foreign nationality, cross-border workers who arrive in the morning and leave in the evening, and a business clientele concentrated on the Kirchberg, between the European institutions and the financial centre. Three neighbouring markets start inside thirty kilometres. The text that convinces in Thionville is not the one that convinces in Trier, and English remains the working language of a good share of buyers.
Websites and online shops
Site structure, navigation labels, payment steps and error messages, pulled from your multilingual module.
Content and search visibility
Title tags, meta descriptions and alt attributes, drafted with the terms your buyer genuinely types.
Product sheets
Descriptions, technical features, size guides and care instructions, one at a time or by whole range.
Terms and conditions
Sales terms, right of withdrawal, warranties and the information required before an order, handed to a legal translator.
Hospitality and hotels
Accommodation websites, restaurant menus, stay packages and welcome documents for business visitors from across Europe.
Campaigns and newsletters
Adverts, email sequences, posts and headlines: here the text is rewritten, not transposed.
The retail & e-commerce sector in a country where three languages coexist
A business based here addresses several publics from the outset. The residents themselves divide between French, German, Luxembourgish, Portuguese, English and Italian; the cross-border workers arrive each morning from three different countries; and an online shop run from the Grand Duchy naturally reaches Lorraine, the Saarland, the Rhineland and the neighbouring Belgian province. The language market, in other words, is already plural before a single border is crossed.
A strapline, a guarantee or a reassurance argument does not survive literal transfer. They are rewritten in the target language, and your way of speaking has to stay recognisable in them. There is also a trap peculiar to French: the same language either side of the border does not mean the same commercial habits. Legal references quoted in your terms, guarantee headings, price display, withdrawal periods, the vocabulary of after-sales service: all of that varies from country to country, and a text copied across unchanged is spotted at once.
We work straight inside your tools, WordPress, Shopify, InDesign or XLIFF export, and the layout comes back untouched, page titles, meta descriptions and alt attributes included. Your terms of sale and your returns policy, however, leave the marketing field: they go to a legal translator, because a mishandled clause costs more than a flat slogan.

When the spoken word counts as much as the written one
A moment comes when everything is settled out loud: a buyer sitting across the table, a demonstration to run, a contract to go through clause by clause.
Buying meetings
Facing a buyer, a purchasing group or an importer, in your offices, in theirs or through a screen.
Trade fairs
Fairs in France, in Germany or elsewhere in Europe, with an interpreter who holds the stand for the full run.
Training the network
Launching a range in front of resellers or franchisees arriving from several countries, over a day or a full week.
Remote reviews
Progress committee, online demonstration or supplier meeting, bookable by the hour.
Duplicating the French version word for word, page titles included, produces a site nobody searches for. A German-speaking buyer never types a calque of your French phrasing into a search engine, and spots a page written elsewhere within two lines. We first establish what is actually typed in the target language, and then we write.
Four steps between your upload and the handover
A single project manager follows your retail & e-commerce file from the first message to the handover, so that no instruction gets lost on the way.
- 01
Send the document as it is
A phone snapshot will do, badly framed included. For a spoken assignment, give us the date, the address of the appointment and the two languages involved.
- 02
Price and deadline inside one hour
You receive the price, the handover date and the route chosen: sworn where an authority requires it, standard in every other case. No commitment attached.
- 03
A linguist from the field takes it on
The text goes to someone who uses retail & e-commerce terminology every day, and a second linguist reads it again before anything leaves us.
- 04
File delivered or interpreter on site
The file reaches you electronically. The stamped copy follows by registered post when the recipient insists on it, and the interpreter turns up at the agreed address.
Aiming at Germany or at neighbouring France?
Sheets, pages and tags handled directly inside your own tools, then returned publishable with no layout touch-up.
What changes the moment a retail & e-commerce file reaches us
Keywords are checked before writing
We verify what gets typed in the target language before drafting. Without that step the German version exists without ever appearing in the results, and the spend serves no purpose.
The tone follows the market
An argument that works south of the border falls flat to the east. We offer several formulations and explain the intention behind each one; the choice is yours.
The specialist for the field, not the first one free
A specialised text goes to someone who practises in that area. A tight handover date does not suspend the rule: it only shortens the time we have to find the right person.
Confidentiality signed before anything is opened
Everyone involved signs a confidentiality undertaking before reaching your file. Documents sit on infrastructure located inside the European Union and are erased on a written request.
The approved quote is the invoice
Nothing is added later. Revision, layout work and delivery are inside the figure stated at the outset.
No travel charge
Luxembourg, Esch-sur-Alzette, Differdange, Dudelange, Bettembourg, Mersch, Ettelbruck: the interpreter travels there without the journey being billed.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need a German version distinct from the French one?
If you sell east or north, yes. Those are two readerships, two buying habits and two sets of consumer law. We produce a standalone version rather than a copy, while keeping your site structure, so that both sites are browsed the same way.
By what means do you pull the text out of our online catalogue?
Through the export of your multilingual module, whichever it is: WPML, Polylang or the platform's own function. No manual retyping, so no internal link lost and no formatting to redo. You reimport the translated file and the language is live.
We receive international customers in town, what should we plan for?
The menu, the welcome documents and the cancellation terms translated beforehand, then an interpreter if you are receiving a group or a delegation. For busy periods, book early: the minimum lead time stays 24 hours.
A full catalogue, in what time?
Start by sending us a complete export. We price new words only: everything repeated from one item to the next drops out of the count, which changes a great deal on a catalogue. The date is on the quote, and large volumes are delivered in batches, so publishing starts before the work is finished.
